Character Design
A collection of characters I’ve designed over the years.
A few are for my own animated series & franchise ‘BRIGHTER’.
I started building this universe in 2019 and since then have been expanding the world and introduced many new characters to the growing fanbase.
There’s also a few characters I’ve done for client work on projects still under development.
Here are a few that have made the most impact.
‘ROH’
she/her
age;17
Roh is the main protaganist of our story and the character I’ve worked on the longest. I wanted her design to look functional as well as casual.
It was a challenge to create a character that emits her own light source while not clashing other designs. Since the world of Brighter is primarily low light/in darkness, Roh’s bright pink/purple flame is meant to be an instant marker and makes for a great contrast with the second, green toned protagonist, Zaiyah.
‘TREE SPIRIT’
Tree Spirits are mild tempered and gentle unless you really try to hurt them (but why would you, they’re so sweet!) They are the true embodiment of a tree and they're whole goal is to find a comfortable place to sleep and plant their roots. While roaming their leaves are bioluminescent and glow closer to the top of their heads and tips of bottom leaves.
Originally Tree Spirit was designed to be more of a nameless creature that would just be seen roaming around the Brighter-verse. However, after releasing some concept art on social media, this character gained a lot of popularity. I decided to explore more of their lore and ended up writing a short film about where Tree Spirits come from. The film, appropriately titled ‘Tree Spirit’ is still under production, but below is some of the character/concept art I’ve created while putting it together.
‘Kabir’

A Character Design done for a client’s graphic novel in development.
This was the description I was given:
6’ tall, shoulder length dark hair (sometimes tied in a ponytail), stubbled short beard, tawny skin, grey eyes, south asian features, 23-25 years old, muscular build. Often wears a stoic and indifferent look on his face.
‘PowerShip Nimbus’
A Design done for a client’s graphic novel in development.
This was the description provided:
180' X 40' balloon encaged in "scaffolding" and wires that attach it to a 60' X 20' fuselage and engine below and 25' wings on either side (total width: 90'). Includes rudders, propellers, exhaust, smaller wings, external walkways. Fuselage encompasses:
